University of Allahabad Reconstitutes Proctorial Board: 36 Faculty Members Assigned New Roles

Prayagraj, April 21, 2025 – The University of Allahabad has officially reconstituted its Proctorial Board following the approval of the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor on April 17, 2025. A formal notification issued on April 21, 2025, outlines the appointment of 36 faculty members across different faculties who have been deputed to the Proctorial Board. These members will undertake duties to supervise and maintain law and order on the University campuses in addition to their existing academic responsibilities.

Structure of the Reconstituted Proctorial Board

The newly constituted Proctorial Board is categorized by faculties—Science, Arts, and Law & Commerce—with each faculty contributing designated Deputy Proctors and Assistant Proctors.

Faculty of Science: 14 Faculty Members Assigned

Among the 14 members from the Faculty of Science, Prof. Kailash Narain Uttam (Department of Physics) has been appointed as the Deputy Proctor. The other 13 faculty members, serving as Assistant Proctors, come from a range of departments including Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology, Electronics and Communication, and Statistics. Notable names include:

  • Dr. Manish Srivastava (Chemistry)
  • Dr. Shashi Kant Shukla (Centre of Science and Society)
  • Dr. Gyan Chandra Singh Yadav and Dr. Avanish Kumar Chaturvedi (Mathematics)
  • Dr. Pushpank Vats and Dr. Prateek Srivastava (Botany and Zoology respectively)

Faculty of Arts: 18 Faculty Members Inducted

The Faculty of Arts contributes 18 members to the board, with Dr. Atul Narayan Singh (Ancient History, Culture, and Archaeology) taking on the role of Deputy Proctor. The remaining 17 have been appointed as Assistant Proctors, hailing from departments such as English, Psychology, Education, Hindi, Philosophy, and Sanskrit.

Noteworthy appointments include:

  • Dr. Sadaf Siddiqui (English and Modern European Languages)
  • Dr. Ritu Modi and Dr. Manish Kumar Gautam (Psychology and Education)
  • Dr. Anand Pratap Chand (Medieval and Modern History)
  • Dr. Shiv Kumar Yadav (Hindi)
  • Dr. Satya Prakash (Ancient History)

Faculty of Law & Commerce: 4 Faculty Members Included

From the Faculty of Law and Commerce, Dr. Abhishek Kumar (Department of Law) has been named Deputy Proctor. Three other faculty members have been designated as Assistant Proctors:

  • Dr. Archana Singh (Commerce and Business Administration)
  • Dr. Hariom Gupta (Commerce and Business Administration)
  • Dr. Vijay Luxmi Singh and Dr. Rahul Srivastava (Law)

Reporting Structure and Administrative Oversight

All appointed faculty members are directed to report to Prof. Rakesh Singh, Proctor, University of Allahabad. The notification has been signed and released by the Registrar of the university and has been circulated to all concerned departments, deans, administrative officers, and other stakeholders for implementation.

The reconstitution of the Proctorial Board is part of the university’s ongoing efforts to strengthen campus security and governance.
