About the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC)
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) of India, established on 12 October 1993, is a statutory public body created under the Protection of Human Rights Ordinance of 1993 and later formalized under the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993 (PHRA). NHRC is tasked with the promotion and protection of human rights — encompassing rights related to life, liberty, equality, and dignity as guaranteed by the Indian Constitution and international covenants enforceable in India.
About the Internship – May 2025
The NHRC is inviting applications for its prestigious Online Short Term Internship Programme – May 2025. This internship offers students a valuable opportunity to understand and engage with human rights issues in India.
Eligibility Criteria
Applications are invited from students across India who meet the following conditions:
- Students in the 3rd year and onwards of an integrated 5-year postgraduate course.
- Students in the 3rd or final year of a graduation course.
- Students of any semester/year of any postgraduate degree course.
- Students of any semester/year of any postgraduate diploma course.
- Research scholars from any stream.
Important Notes:
- Candidates must have secured at least 60% marks in their 12th standard and all subsequent academic courses.
- Students must clearly mention their calculated percentage along with the formula used to convert CGPA/SGPA to percentage.
- The applicant should not be more than 28 years old as of 1st April 2025.
Duration and Mode
- Duration: 2 weeks
- Dates: 13th May to 23rd May 2025
- Mode: Online (Full-Time Internship, 10:00 AM – 5:30 PM, Monday to Friday)
Note: Students must ensure their full availability during the internship hours.
Stipend and Certification
- A stipend of Rs. 2,000 will be provided upon successful completion.
- A Certificate of Participation will be awarded based on:
- Mandatory attendance, punctuality, and active participation.
- Timely submission of Project Presentation, Project Report, and Book Review.
Documents Required
Applications will be rejected if any of the following are missing:
- Statement of Purpose (SoP): A 250-word write-up titled “Statement of Purpose (SoP) for joining NHRC Online Short Term Internship”.
- Marksheets: Self-attested scanned copies from 12th grade onwards, including ongoing courses.
- Recommendation Letter: Scanned recommendation letter or email from HOD/Dean/Principal in the prescribed proforma.
