The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially released the notification for the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) June 2025 examination. The online application process commenced on 16 April 2025, and candidates can submit their applications until 07 May 2025. This examination determines the eligibility of candidates for the posts of Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in Indian universities and colleges.

Application Fee

  • General Category: Rs. 1150/-
  • EWS / OBC (NCL): Rs. 600/-
  • SC / ST / PwD: Rs. 325/-
    Payment can be made via Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, or E-Challan.
Reservation Note

As per Government of India regulations, the reservation is applicable for EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, and PwD categories. The updated norms from the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and Ministry of Education have been implemented accordingly.

Age Limit (As on 01 June 2025)

  • JRF: Maximum age limit is 31 years (relaxation as per rules)
  • NET (Assistant Professor): No upper age limit

Educational Qualification

  • Candidates must have passed or be appearing in a Master’s degree or equivalent examination in the relevant subject with at least 55% marks (50% for reserved categories).
  • Candidates who hold a 4-year Bachelor’s degree are also eligible under the New Education Policy.

Exam Duration: 180 minutes (3 hours)

Papers: Paper 1 & Paper 2 (No break between the two papers)

Mode of Examination: CBT (Computer-Based Test)

The UGC NET June 2025 exam will be conducted in 86 subjects, including popular ones like Political Science, Commerce, Law, History, Sociology, Education, English, Hindi, Management, Computer Science, and many regional and classical languages. Newly included or emphasized fields include Indian Knowledge System, Yoga, Ayurveda Biology, and Disaster Management.
