NALSA Invites Applications for its Prestigious Law Internship Programme

About NALSA

The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), established under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, plays a pivotal role in providing free legal services to marginalized sections of society. It also organises Lok Adalats for amicable dispute resolution, ensuring justice is accessible to all.

Internship Opportunity at NALSA

NALSA has announced its Internship Programme for law students across India. This initiative aims to provide young legal minds with an opportunity to understand and contribute to the workings of NALSA. Through hands-on experience in specialised areas of legal services, the programme is designed to enhance awareness about access to justice.

Eligibility Criteria

Students pursuing either a Three-Year LL.B Course or a Five-Year Integrated Law Course from any recognized university, college, or institution are eligible to apply. Preference will be given to:

  • 2nd or 3rd-year students of the Three-Year LL.B programme
  • 4th or 5th-year students of the Five-Year Integrated Law programme

Duration of Internship

The internship is structured for a period of one month (four weeks), commencing from the 1st day of the chosen month.

Completion Requirements

Interns are expected to submit a comprehensive report summarizing the work undertaken during the internship. Successful completion, subject to the satisfaction of the Member Secretary of NALSA and a minimum 90% attendance, will entitle the intern to receive a Certificate of Internship.
Note: No letter of recommendation will be provided by NALSA.

Internship Guidelines

  • Interns must arrange their own accommodation during the tenure.
  • No stipend, travel allowance (TA), or dearness allowance (DA) will be provided.
  • Working hours are from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Saturday (excluding second and fourth Saturdays).
  • Interns must ensure 90% attendance; hence, students with college examinations during the internship period are discouraged from applying.
  • Carrying personal laptops is mandatory for completing assigned tasks.
  • Interns may need to travel locally to visit courts and other offices.
  • A formal Black & White dress code, as prescribed by the Bar Council of Delhi, must be adhered to.
  • Unsatisfactory performance could result in discontinuation of the internship.
  • The internship is a full-time, in-person commitment; pursuing other courses or employment simultaneously is prohibited.

Application Procedure

Students interested in this prestigious opportunity can apply online by filling out the application form. The following documents must be uploaded:

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV) or Resume
  • Expression of Interest (one-page or shorter write-up explaining the interest in and suitability for the internship)
  • No Objection Certificate (NOC) from a competent authority (Dean, Head of Department, or Internship & Placement Committee) mentioning the applicant’s name and current semester/year.
