Successful Organization of G.N. Verma Intra Moot Court Competition at CMP Degree College, Law Department; Team Led by Anika Jain Declared Winner
The G.N. Verma Intra Moot Court Competition was successfully organized by the Legal Aid and Service Clinic, Faculty of Law, Chaudhary Mahadev Prasad Degree College, Prayagraj under the guidance of Dr. R.D. Kishore and Dr. Haridarshan Tripathi. The event was graced by the presence of Mr. Ashok Mehta, Additional Advocate General of Uttar Pradesh, as the Chief Guest.
The program commenced with floral tributes offered by the Chief Guest and faculty members to Goddess Saraswati and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. Professor Shiv Shankar Singh, Head of the Law Department, welcomed the Chief Guest, and Professor Ajay Pratap Singh honored him with a bouquet.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Mehta inspired the research scholars to step into the field and engage in practical research. He shared his views on topics such as the Constitution, Yoga, Drug Administration, and Spirituality in the Kumbh Mela. He emphasized the themes of "Law and Spirituality" and posed three thought-provoking questions:
1. Is education an industry?
2. Is the public a commodity?
3. Is a suit (legal case) a commodity?
Following this, the final round of the moot court competition for final-year LLB students began, based on the case of K.M. Nanavati vs. State of Maharashtra. The panel of judges for the final round included Prof. Shiv Shankar Singh, Dr. Purnendu Mishra and Dr. R.D. Kishore. The first and second rounds of the competition were held on 8 April and 11 April, respectively, and were coordinated by Dr. Gaurav Patel and Dr.Haridarshan Tripathi. A total of 20 teams from the college participated in the competition.
The final round witnessed a face-off between the teams of Krishna Pratap Yadav and Anika Jain. Anika Jain’s team emerged victorious. The award for Best Researcher was presented to Vidhi Bharatiya.
