University of Lucknow to Host 6th Bhimotsav 2025 on April 14: A Grand Celebration of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s Legacy

Lucknow, April 1, 2025 — The Faculty of Law, University of Lucknow, one of India's oldest and most prestigious legal institutions, is set to organize the 6th Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Memorial Lecture and Bhimotsav 2025 on April 14, 2025, at Vishwakarma Hall, Second Campus, Jankipuram. The event commemorates the multi-faceted legacy of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar—jurist, educationist, and social reformer—whose contributions continue to inspire generations.

About the University of Lucknow and Faculty of Law

Established in 1867, the University of Lucknow stands as a historic seat of learning, affiliated with the UGC, AIU, ACU, and DEC. The Faculty of Law was founded in 1921 and shaped by pioneering minds such as Mr. Jag Mohan Nath Chak and Prof. R.U. Singh, the latter having laid the foundation for law faculties at both Delhi University and Banaras Hindu University. Notably, he was also instrumental in drafting Nepal’s Constitution.

Over the years, the faculty has produced some of India’s top legal minds including Dr. V.N. Shukla, renowned for his work on Constitutional Law, and Dr. A.T. Markos, the first LL.D. of the faculty and former Director of the Indian Law Institute.

Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Memorial Lecture: Honoring an Icon

The highlight of Bhimotsav 2025 will be the 6th Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Memorial Lecture to be held on April 14, in offline mode at Vishwakarma Hall. Eminent speakers from diverse fields will deliver lectures on Dr. Ambedkar’s contribution to academia, law, and social justice.   • The Relevance of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s Ideals in Contemporary Feminism
