About the Certificate Course on Legal Research and Writing
LRA has announced the launch of its meticulously designed Certificate Course on Legal Research and Writing. This four-week programme aims to empower law students, legal professionals, advocates, and academicians with the critical skills required for advanced legal research and effective legal writing.
The course is structured around eight interactive sessions that comprehensively cover research methodologies, legal writing techniques, and strategies for presenting and publishing legal scholarship.

The four-week programme will cover the following essential modules:
- Introduction to Legal Research: Fundamentals of research, significance in academia and practice, identifying research objectives.
- Legal Research Design and Problem Formulation: Framing research questions, developing hypotheses, and structuring research.
- Doctrinal and Empirical Research Methods: Analysing legal principles, conducting surveys and interviews, and data analysis.
- Research Tools and Techniques: Effective use of libraries, citation styles, and online legal research platforms like SCC Online, Manupatra, and WestLaw.
- Legal Writing and Drafting: Drafting research memos, legal opinions, academic papers, and legal essays.
- Presenting and Publishing Legal Research: Techniques for presenting at conferences and publishing research.
- Ethics and Integrity in Legal Research: Avoiding plagiarism and maintaining academic integrity.
- Citations, Referencing, and Documentation: Mastery over citation practices and documentation techniques.
