University of Allahabad Opens Registrations for PGAT-2025: Detailed Notification Released
Prayagraj, April 23, 2025: The University of Allahabad has officially announced the commencement of its Postgraduate Admission Test (PGAT) for the academic session 2025–2026. Registrations will begin from April 25, 2025 (Friday) and will be conducted only through online mode via the official website https://aupraavesh2025.cbtexam.in. The last date to register is May 16, 2025 (Friday).
PGAT-I and PGAT-II: Course Classification
The PGAT is categorized into PGAT-I and PGAT-II:
- PGAT-I includes conventional postgraduate courses and will be offered in both online and offline modes.
- PGAT-II includes non-conventional courses and will be conducted in online mode only.

Registration Fees
The registration fees differ based on the category and course type:

PGAT-I Courses:
- Unreserved, EWS, OBC: Rs. 1000/-
- SC/ST/PwD: Rs. 500/-

PGAT-II Courses:
- Unreserved, EWS, OBC: Rs. 1600/-
- SC/ST/PwD: Rs. 800/-
Reservation Policy
The university will adhere to the Government of India’s reservation norms:
- 15% for SC
- 7.5% for ST
- 27% for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)
- 10% for EWS
- 5% for persons with benchmark disabilities
- 2% for sports candidates
However, sports quota and NCC weightage will not be applicable for B.Ed., M.Ed., MBA, and MBA(RD) programs.
International Students
Foreign nationals must apply through the International Students Advisor, University of Allahabad, and will not be required to appear for PGAT-2025. Application procedures are available on www.allduniv.ac.in.
PGAT-2025 Exam Pattern
- Total Marks: 300
- Total Questions: 150 (All MCQs)
- Compulsory Sections for all except LL.M., B.Ed., M.Ed., MBA, MBA(RD):
- General Awareness
- General English
- General Hindi
- Logical Reasoning
- Mental Ability
Remaining questions will be based on the applicant’s subject of choice.
Important Note: There will be no negative marking for wrong answers.
Additional Test for MBA Aspirants
Applicants to the MBA programs will need to appear for an additional test conducted by the concerned department.
Changes in Admission Criteria
The University has introduced minor but significant changes in PGAT-2025 criteria:

Sports Quota Applicants must now pass a fitness test (50m sprint, 1000m running, Overhead Ball Throw, Standing Broad Jump). Failure will lead to disqualification.

Modified Eligibility for:
- M.Sc. Applied Geology
- M.Sc. Materials Science

Renaming of:
- M.Sc. Agriculture Zoology and Entomology to M.Sc. Agricultural Entomology
Applicants are advised to read the PGAT-2025 information bulletin carefully before applying and to choose their subject codes accurately, as no changes will be allowed later.
