AKTU to Get State’s First Hi-Tech Makers Lab in Collaboration with Infosys
Students from Class 6 to Postgraduates to Benefit from Cutting-Edge Facility and 19,000 Online Courses
Lucknow, April 4 – Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) is set to house Uttar Pradesh’s first state-of-the-art Makers Lab, being developed by renowned software company Infosys. The lab aims to benefit a wide spectrum of students, ranging from those in Class 6 to postgraduate levels, by offering hands-on experience with advanced technologies and access to over 19,000 online courses.
Infosys to Lead Lab Setup and Operations
Infosys will be fully responsible for the setup, management, and operation of the lab. Experts from the company are currently finalizing the layout and infrastructure of the facility. The lab will also feature appointed technical specialists to guide and mentor students.
Equipping Students with Future-Ready Skills
According to AKTU Vice-Chancellor Prof. J.P. Pandey, the Makers Lab will open up new opportunities for students across the state to engage with modern science and technology. It will act as a hub for innovation and creativity, allowing students to bring their project ideas to life using real-world tools and expert guidance.
Advanced Technologies to Be Featured
The Makers Lab will be equipped with the latest technologies including:
- Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- Internet of Things (IoT)
- Robotics
- 3D Printers
Students will not only be able to develop their own projects using these technologies but will also receive expert assistance throughout their learning journey.
Massive Access to Online Courses
In addition to hands-on tools, the lab will provide access to approximately 19,000 online courses. These will cover a diverse range of subjects including:
- Technical education
- Non-technical skills
- Business communication
- Scientific research and knowledge
This access aims to build well-rounded skill sets in students and improve their employability and innovation capacity.
Dedicated Hi-Tech Space Within AKTU Library
The lab is being built within a 2,400 square feet area inside the AKTU Library. The space is being designed with high functionality and creativity in mind and will include:
- 25 Hi-Tech Working Stations for students to work on their projects
- Two Round Table Areas for group discussions
- A Conference Zone for meetings and presentations
- High Tables and Reception Area for additional support and collaboration
