United University Inaugurates 'Lit for Life' Literary Club

Prayagraj, March 27: United University, Prayagraj, celebrated the launch of its literary club, 'Lit for Life: A Literary Club of United University,' under the aegis of the Department of Applied Sciences and Humanities.

The event commenced with the traditional lamp-lighting ceremony and floral tributes to Goddess Saraswati. The Assistant Academic Dean, Dr. Roshani Srivastava, in her inaugural speech, praised the collaborative efforts of the Head of the Department of Applied Sciences and Humanities, Dr. Geetika Pandey, along with Dr. Kunvar Shekhar Gupta and Mrs. Jolly Sengupta, the club's founders. She emphasized that this initiative provides a platform to nurture creativity, community spirit, and literary excellence, contributing significantly to the university's vision. Dr. Srivastava congratulated the club's office-bearers and members, assuring full support from the university to help students excel not only within the campus but also in literary activities beyond it.

Dr. Geetika Pandey, Head of the Department, stressed the importance of skill enhancement and encouraged students to go beyond the syllabus. She assured that the department would provide unwavering support to the club, aiming to inspire students to actively participate in literary activities. She also highlighted plans for workshops, seminars, guest lectures, and other academic initiatives under the club’s banner, ensuring consistent development of literary skills.

Speaking about the club's vision, Dr. Kunvar Shekhar Gupta, Assistant Professor and one of the founders, emphasized that the club aims to enrich students' skills, creativity, and literary knowledge. He announced that monthly seminars, workshops, career counseling sessions, and academic events would be organized without disrupting students' regular classes. Dr. Gupta shared his belief that this club will encourage participation in literary events beyond the campus, showcasing the potential of the university's English literature students. Co-founder Mrs. Jolly Sengupta added that the club would not only boost students' confidence but also enhance their creativity and innovation.  



Leadership and Roles at Lit for Life:

The club's leadership team includes President Mr. Prakhar Gangwar and Vice President Ms. Asra Fatima, who will oversee activities. Mr. Alok Singh has been appointed Secretary, while Ms. Bariya Wakeel serves as Treasurer. Ms. Ananya Mishra holds the position of Joint Secretary. The creative dimension will be directed by Ms. Tanishka Rubel, with Ms. Alkama Khan as Social Media Head and Ms. Anshu Kumari Pal as Director of Media Management. The editorial responsibilities have been entrusted to Mr. Vishal Kumar and Ms. Srishti. Directors of External Affairs include Mr. Vivek Yadav and Mr. Amitanshu Mishra, while Ms. Sangeeta Tripathi and Ms. Ekta Pathak join as Executive Members. 

During the ceremony, Dr. Kunvar Shekhar Gupta introduced the club's office-bearers, who later took an oath to uphold the club's values and mission. The event was conducted by Vice President Ms. Asra Fatima, with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Ayushi Singh. 

The launch ceremony was graced by the presence of senior faculty members, including Dr. Ritu Pandey, Dr. Prasoon Joshi, Dr. Ramji Mishra, Dr. Anand Tripathi, Ms. Namita Srivastava, Mrs. Pallavi Saxena, Dr. Amrita Raj, Mr. Kuldeep Singh, Mr. Shubham Chaurasia, and Mr. Mirza Haidar Raza, who extended their best wishes to the club's office-bearers and members. 

Students from B.A. (Hons.) English, across all years, attended the event. The club aspires to showcase the literary talent of the university's students, establishing them as a force to reckon with on both national and global platforms.
