Grand Inauguration of 'Sahitya Kumbh' at Hindustani Academy

The five-day event 'Sahitya Kumbh' in memory of Dr. Kanhaiya Singh commenced today at the Gandhi Auditorium of Hindustani Academy. Organized in collaboration with Naya Parimal, Hindustani Academy, and the Hindi Department of Allahabad University, the event began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, paying homage to the statue of Goddess Saraswati, and floral tributes to Dr. Kanhaiya Singh's portrait.

Welcoming the distinguished guests, Dr. Devendra Pratap Singh, Secretary of Hindustani Academy, emphasized the scientific alignment of Sanatan traditions, highlighting how they convey their messages through symbols. Professor Lalasa Yadav, Head of the Hindi Department at Allahabad University, pointed out the deep connection between literature and the city of Prayag. Professor Yogendra Pratap Singh remarked that ancient Indian sages and seers conducted their intellectual reflections in isolation and later disseminated their thoughts to society. He further stated that literature transcends left or right ideologies and instead integrates them.

Dr. Rajnarayan Shukla, a member of the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission, discussed the significance of Indian languages, acknowledging the rich literary contributions in Tamil, Telugu, and Marathi. He advocated for writing letters in Hindi and urged that literature should be penned with a focus on justice. Dr. Uday Pratap Singh, former president of Hindustani Academy and a senior litterateur, shared his memories of Dr. Kanhaiya Singh, describing him as a man of humanity. He emphasized that while Indian languages may differ, their core sensibilities are the same, with folklore preceding scholarly texts.

In the first session, a comprehensive discussion on the topic 'Ancient Literary Traditions in India' was held. Delivering the keynote address, Professor Amrendra Tripathi drew attention to the disruptions in Indian literary consciousness, from Islamic invasions to the rise of Delhi as a political seat. Professor Sarvesh Singh provided a detailed analysis of Dr. Kanhaiya Singh's literature and textual research, noting the absence of 'Tatsam' words in contemporary literature. Professor Ramkishore Sharma stated that the core of Indian literature is rooted in religion, with a natural inclination toward spirituality and democratic values. Presiding over the session, Professor Tribhuvan Nath Shukla emphasized the importance of tradition in literature, remarking that fragmented individuals cannot produce comprehensive literature. At the conclusion of the program, Vinamra Sen Singh, Secretary of Naya Parimal, extended a vote of thanks to all the speakers and scholars.

The event saw the presence of Hindustani Academy's Treasurer, Mr. Durgesh Kumar Singh, Assistant Professors from Allahabad University Dr. Amitesh, Dr. Vijay Ravidas, Dr. Chittaranjan, researchers Balkaran Singh, Chandrashekhar Kushwaha, Harshit Upadhyay, and numerous students.
