Delhi University Admission 2025: General Test Mandatory for BA Program Through CUET UG

Delhi University (DU) has announced that students seeking admission to the BA Program must compulsorily appear for the General Test in the Common University Entrance Test Undergraduate (CUET UG) 2025. The university has clarified that for all undergraduate (UG) programs, admission will be granted solely based on CUET UG scores, with Class 12 marks being used only in tie-breaking situations. DU will not consider CUET scores from the previous year for admission in the 2025-26 academic session.

However, CUET UG will not be mandatory for students applying to the School of Open Learning (SOL), Non-Collegiate Women’s Education Board (NCWEB), and foreign applicants. These key details were shared by the university through a webinar conducted to guide students on the undergraduate admission process.

Webinar Held to Address Student Queries on CUET UG 2025

Delhi University organized a webinar on Wednesday evening to provide information regarding admissions to 79 undergraduate programs across 69 colleges affiliated with the university. The session aimed to help students understand the number of CUET UG subjects they need to appear for, the documents required, the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS), and the subject requirements for different programs.

During the webinar, Dean of Admissions, Prof. Haneet Gandhi, and Joint Dean of Admissions, Dr. Anand Sonkar, gave a detailed presentation on the admission process and addressed students' queries. They provided clarity on subject selection for CUET UG 2025, the weightage of scores, and eligibility criteria for different courses.

Subject and General Test Selection for CUET UG 2025

Prof. Gandhi explained that students can select up to five subjects for CUET UG 2025. However, they must choose only those subjects that they studied in Class 12. Candidates can opt for four subjects along with the General Test, or select a combination of three subjects and one language, or even choose two languages and two subjects.

For admission to Delhi University, appearing for at least one language in CUET UG 2025 is mandatory. Students should also be aware that they can change their academic stream during admissions. For example, a student who studied Science in Class 12 can switch to Arts for their undergraduate studies without facing any penalty in terms of marks.

Before selecting subjects for CUET UG 2025, students must carefully review the Common Minimum Eligibility and Program-Specific Eligibility Criteria set by DU. Each of the 79 UG programs at DU has its own eligibility requirements, and students are advised to choose their subjects accordingly.

Minimum Eligibility Criteria and Admission Guidelines

DU has reiterated that students must only take the CUET UG exam in subjects they studied in Class 12. As per the Common Minimum Eligibility Criteria, candidates from any recognized education board in India must have passed Class 12 to be eligible for admission. However, students who have a compartment in their Class 12 board exams will not be eligible to apply.

Once the National Testing Agency (NTA) announces the CUET UG 2025 results, DU will initiate the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) for seat allotment. Students will be required to register for CSAS counseling, following which seats will be allocated based on their CUET UG scores, program preferences, and the availability of seats in different colleges.
