CUET UG 2025: Application Process Begins, Exam from May 8 to June 1
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially commenced the online application process for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) UG 2025. Aspiring candidates can submit their applications online until March 22, 2025. This year, the CUET UG exam is scheduled to be conducted from May 8 to June 1, 2025, in a Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode across multiple centers. The entrance exam will facilitate admissions into over 260 universities, including Delhi University (DU), Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), and many other prestigious institutions.
One of the major changes in CUET UG 2025 is the reduction in the number of subjects. Unlike last year, when students could choose from 63 subjects, this year, the number has been cut down to 37, including 13 language subjects, 23 domain-specific subjects, and a General Aptitude Test. Candidates who previously opted for eliminated subjects will now be evaluated based on their General Aptitude Test scores. Additionally, applicants can now choose subjects they did not study in their Class 12 curriculum, allowing greater flexibility in selecting their desired undergraduate programs.
The CUET UG 2025 exam will be conducted in 13 Indian languages, including English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. Unlike previous years, no foreign language has been included in the test. Furthermore, the number of exam cities in India has been reduced from 354 to 285, and international centers have been reduced from 26 to 15. Candidates can now appear for a maximum of five subjects instead of six, as allowed last year.
The examination format has also undergone a significant change. Unlike last year, where optional questions were included, this year all questions will be compulsory. Each test paper will consist of 50 questions, with a total duration of 60 minutes. Candidates will be awarded 5 marks for each correct answer, while 1 mark will be deducted for every incorrect response.
To apply for CUET UG 2025, candidates must visit the official NTA website at https://cuet.nta.nic.in/ and complete the registration process. Each applicant can submit only one application. For any technical assistance during the application process, students can contact the NTA helpdesk at 011-40759000 or seek support via email.
Universities across the country have already begun preparations for CUET-based admissions. Institutions are expected to release their specific admission guidelines, including eligibility criteria, subject requirements, and seat availability, in the coming weeks. Students are advised to stay updated with official announcements to ensure they meet all requirements for their preferred courses.
With CUET UG 2025 being one of the most crucial entrance exams for undergraduate admissions in India, candidates should start their preparation early to secure a place in top universities. The revised structure, reduced subject options, and increased competition make it imperative for students to adopt a strategic approach to their preparation. Aspirants must thoroughly review the syllabus, practice mock tests, and stay updated with official notifications to maximize their chances of success in CUET UG 2025.
