CUET Exam Pattern 2025 : The CUET UG 2025 exam pattern has undergone significant changes to enhance the efficiency and fairness of the examination process. As per the latest announcement by UGC Chairperson, the exam pattern, duration, and the number of subjects have been modified.

 The test will be conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode with Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), featuring a total of 50 questions per section. The exam is divided into three sections: Section 1A (Language Test), Section 2 (Domain Subjects), and Section 3 (General Test), with each section having a duration of 60 minutes. The marking scheme awards +5 marks for each correct answer and deducts 1 mark for each incorrect response.

Candidates can choose from 13 languages and 23 domain-specific subjects, irrespective of their Class 12 subjects. A General Aptitude Test will be conducted for admissions related to discontinued subjects. This new pattern aims to provide better accessibility and flexibility for students seeking admission to various undergraduate programs.

New Changes in CUET Exam Pattern 2025

UGC has made several changes in CUET Exam Pattern 2025 as mentioned below.

  • Reduction in Subjects: The total number of subjects has been reduced from 63 to 37. This includes 13 languages, 23 domain subjects, and a general test.
  • Domain Subject Options: Candidates can now choose only 5 domain subjects, down from the previous limit of 6.
  • Exam Duration: Each subject paper will have a standardized duration of 1 hour (60 minutes).
  • Online Examination Format: The CUET will be conducted exclusively in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode.
  • Flexibility in Subject Selection: Students can opt for any CUET subject regardless of the subjects they studied in Class 12.
  • General Test Inclusion: The exam will include a general test section, which assesses general aptitude.

Yes, the CUET 2025 exam will be MCQ-based (Multiple Choice Questions). The exam is created to test candidates' knowledge across various subjects with a focus on multiple-choice questions, which will be presented in English.
