CBSE Class 12 political science exam 2025 'moderately difficult': What teachers, students say

CBSE Class 12 Political Science Exam 2025: ‘Moderately Difficult’, Say Teachers and Students

Exam Receives Mixed Reactions from Students, While Educators Call it Balanced

New Delhi, March 22, 2025 – The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 12 Political Science exam 2025 concluded today, and students and teachers have shared their feedback on the level of difficulty. The general consensus points to a "moderately difficult" paper, with some students expressing concerns over specific sections, while educators described the exam as a balanced test of knowledge and application.

Students’ Feedback: A Mixed Response

For many students, the CBSE Political Science exam posed a moderate challenge, with both familiar and unexpected questions. While some students found the questions relatively straightforward, others struggled with certain sections that they deemed more challenging.

"I found the exam to be of a moderate level. Some sections, especially in the Indian Politics portion, were easy to attempt, but the questions on Contemporary World Politics were tricky. There were some unexpected concepts from the last chapters," said Arjun Patel, a Class 12 student from New Delhi.

Another student, Priya Sharma, echoed similar sentiments, stating, "The questions were clear, but the application-based questions required a deep understanding of concepts. The question on the Cold War was more detailed than I had anticipated."

While the questions in the exam were based on the prescribed CBSE syllabus, the application of theoretical knowledge in current contexts seemed to test students' analytical abilities more than they had expected.

Teachers’ Views: Balanced but Challenging

Teachers who reviewed the exam shared a more positive outlook. According to them, the paper was designed to assess a broad understanding of both political theory and real-world political issues.

"The exam was well-balanced. It tested the students' grasp of key concepts, and while it wasn't an easy paper, it was certainly fair. Most of the questions were based on the syllabus and had clear instructions. Some questions required critical thinking, especially in the contemporary politics section, which is a good sign," said Shalini Gupta, a senior Political Science teacher from a reputed school in Delhi.

Educators also noted that the distribution of marks across different sections was in line with expectations, ensuring that students had the opportunity to demonstrate their overall understanding.

"There was a good mix of direct questions, like those on political parties and electoral politics, as well as more thought-provoking ones requiring detailed explanations," added Sunil Mehta, another Political Science educator from Mumbai.

Challenging Sections and Key Topics

The exam was divided into multiple sections, with the bulk of the questions focusing on Indian Politics, Political Theory, and Contemporary World Politics. According to students and teachers alike, the questions on Contemporary World Politics were the most challenging. Topics like the Cold War, the rise of global terrorism, and the role of international organizations such as the UN were featured in a way that required students to not only recall facts but also understand their global implications.

"Students were asked to analyze recent global political events, and this requires not just textbook knowledge but also awareness of current affairs. This could be a challenging aspect for those who did not keep up with international news," said Gupta.

Conclusion: A Balanced Assessment of Political Understanding

Overall, the CBSE Class 12 Political Science exam 2025 was seen as moderately difficult, with both strengths and weaknesses in its structure. While some students struggled with the more complex questions, teachers felt the paper was a fair representation of the curriculum. This year’s exam reinforced the importance of a deep, analytical approach to political science rather than rote memorization. With the results still to be announced, students and teachers are now waiting to see how the paper’s challenges translate into overall marks.
