UP Police Constable Recruitment 2024: Physical Efficiency Test Concludes, Final Result Expected in March
The UP Police Constable Recruitment 2024 process has reached a significant milestone with the completion of the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) on Thursday. Around 1.5 lakh candidates participated in this crucial phase across 12 PAC battalions in Uttar Pradesh. The final result for the recruitment is expected to be announced in March 2024. The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB) conducted the PET over five days in 10 shifts.
Re-Examination After Paper Leak Controversy
This recruitment process faced a major setback last year when the written exam was canceled due to a paper leak. After much anticipation, the exam was conducted again to ensure a fair selection process. The PET was the next crucial step, where candidates had to prove their physical fitness to move forward in the selection process.
PET Exam Performance and Challenges Faced by Candidates
At the 35th Battalion PAC in Lucknow, 347 candidates were scheduled to appear for the PET. However, 299 candidates attended, and only 166 cleared the test, making them eligible for the next phase. Among these, 133 were officially declared passed, while seven candidates suffered injuries during the test. Additionally, 84 candidates who missed their PET on the initially assigned date were given another chance to participate.
UP Police Constable Merit List Criteria
Candidates who clear the Physical Efficiency Test will be ranked based on their performance in the written examination. The final selection list will be prepared category-wise, adhering to the reservation policy.
- No waiting list will be prepared for this recruitment.
- In case of a tie in marks, preference will be given to candidates possessing:
- NCC 'B' Certificate
- DOEACC 'O' Level Certificate
- Two years of experience in the Territorial Army
- If none of the tied candidates hold these qualifications, the candidate with the higher age will be placed higher in the merit list.
- If there is still a tie, the English alphabetical order of names (as per Class 10 certificate) will be considered to determine the ranking.
9-Month Training for Selected Candidates
The 60,244 selected constables will undergo a 9-month training to prepare them for field duties. Initially, there will be a one-month Joint Training Course (JTC) in all 75 districts, followed by nine months of foundational training at designated centers across the state.
