University of Allahabad Seeks Reassessment of Disability Certificates for Admission Under PH Quota

UoA Directs Manohar Das Netra Chikitsalay to Reassess Disability of Candidates

Prayagraj, February 7, 2025 – The Dean Students Welfare, University of Allahabad (UoA), has formally requested a reassessment of the vision-related disability percentage of three candidates seeking admission under the Physically Handicapped (PH) Quota. The request has been directed to the Head of Department, Manohar Das Netra Chikitsalay, Prayagraj, for further medical evaluation.

Concerns Raised Over Disability Certification

A medical board constituted at the University of Allahabad reviewed the candidates' disability certificates on February 6, 2025. However, the board found discrepancies in the disability percentage mentioned in the certificates, leading to a decision to re-examine the candidates.

Admission Under PH Quota: UoA Demands Reassessment of Vision Disabilities

The three students under review are:

1. Vipin Kr. Srivastava – Music & Performing Arts (Vision Disability: 75%)


2. Singh Kunwar Kshitiz – Political Science (Vision Disability: 45%)


3. Aditya Singh – Law (Vision Disability: 40%)


Urgent Reassessment Requested

In an official letter (Ref No: DSW/1390/2025) dated February 7, 2025, Dean Students Welfare, Prof. Harsh Kumar, emphasized the need for a prompt reassessment of the disability percentages. The letter urges the concerned medical experts to re-evaluate the candidates and confirm the actual disability percentage on a top priority basis, ensuring that the admission process is not delayed.

The university has directed the candidates to appear for their medical examination as per the schedule provided by Manohar Das Netra Chikitsalay. The reassessment report will determine whether the candidates qualify under the PH quota as per university guidelines.
