UGC NET December 2024 Cut-Off

The UGC NET December 2024 session saw a significant rise in the cut-off marks for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Assistant Professor eligibility across most major subjects, except for Economics. The University Grants Commission (UGC) conducted the exam from January 3 to January 27, 2025, in a Computer-Based Test (CBT) format. Due to Makar Sankranti and Pongal festivals, the exam scheduled for January 15 was postponed and later conducted on January 21 and 27, 2025.

UGC NET Exam and Eligibility Trends

The UGC NET exam is conducted twice a year to determine the eligibility of candidates for JRF, Assistant Professor positions, and PhD admissions in universities across India. The increased cut-off marks in this session indicate a rise in competition and overall performance of candidates.

A significant policy update has also been introduced, allowing candidates with a PhD degree to apply for Assistant Professor positions without the need for UGC NET qualification. This move aligns with the University Grants Commission's efforts to streamline faculty recruitment in higher education institutions.

Why UGC NET 2024 Cut-Offs Matter?

  • The increase in cut-offs reflects the rising difficulty level and competition among aspirants.
  • Candidates preparing for the UGC NET June 2025 session should focus on strategic preparation to secure higher scores.
  • The absence of normalization in this session means the results accurately represent candidates' performance without statistical adjustments.

The UGC NET December 2024 results highlight the growing competition in academia and the increasing importance of JRF and Assistant Professor qualifications for career progression in research and teaching. Aspirants should carefully analyze the cut-off trends and prepare accordingly for the upcoming June 2025 session.
