DDU Gorakhpur University Opens Applications for Ph.D. in Law Under RET-2024

Gorakhpur: Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University (DDU) has officially started the application process for the Research Eligibility Test (RET) 2024-25 for Ph.D. admissions. Aspiring candidates can apply online through the university’s official admission portal. The last date to submit applications is March 5, 2025, and the entrance exam is scheduled to be held in the last week of March.

29 Seats Available for Ph.D. in Law
The university has announced a total of 1173 Ph.D. seats across various disciplines, out of which 29 seats are available in the Faculty of Law. These seats will be filled through the RET-2024 examination. The university has 495 full-time and 38 part-time seats on campus, while 640 seats are available in affiliated colleges.
Additionally, 10% supernumerary seats have been reserved for serving faculty members of DDU’s campus and affiliated government or aided colleges.
Eligibility Criteria for RET-2024
To be eligible for the Ph.D. in Law program, candidates must meet the following criteria:
A minimum of 55% marks in a postgraduate (LL.M.) degree from a recognized university.
Reserved category candidates (SC/ST/OBC) will receive a 5% relaxation in the required percentage.
Candidates who have cleared JRF or NET will get additional weightage during the admission process.
Foreign candidates will be given direct admission under the supernumerary quota without appearing for the entrance exam.
Application Process

2. Register with a valid email ID and phone number.
3. Fill out the application form with academic details.
4. Upload required documents, including PG degree certificate and identity proof.
5. Pay the application fee online.

Step 1: Fill Application Form For Selected Courses
After reading these instructions and the Admission Brochure, you can register or login using buttons given below.
In "Registration Form", enter your information: Name of Applicant, Date of Birth, Father's and Mother's Name (As per records of High School or equivalent examination), Unique and valid Mobile Number, Category, Stream, Applying For, Password, Re-enter Password and the Captcha.
If the applicant has already registered, then applicant can login directly from the respective link.
Step 2: Account Verification
After registration, Applicants will receive an OTP on the registered mobile number.
Applicant can verify the account by entering the OTP on the verification code field.
Step 3: Payment Mode
After account verification, Applicant proceeds to the payment gateway for Payment of the Application Fee. The fee can be paid by Credit Card, Debit Card, Net Banking and UPI
On completion of the fee payment process, the applicant can download the fee receipt.
Step 4: Application Form
On completion of fee payment process, all sections of this online application form will open for you to fill up.
The application form has five sections namely, Application Fee, Basic Information, Qualifying Examination, Uploads and Preview. Their links will be displayed on the top line of this page. You can click on them to visit the relevant section.
Basic Information: All field are mandatory. Please fill up each field carefully. Special characters and punctuation marks like single quote ('), double quote(") and semi-colon (;) are not permitted. On completion of the form, click the button "Submit" given at the bottom of the form. You can edit the form after submit, if so required.
Qualifying Examination: Applicants have to fill their Educational Qualifications.
