CBSE 10th Board Exam 2025-26: Major Changes Expected
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released an important notification stating that from the academic session 2025-26, Class 10 board exams might be conducted twice a year. The draft regulations regarding this policy were approved on Tuesday, and suggestions from stakeholders have been invited before finalizing the decision. The CBSE has asked students, parents, teachers, and other stakeholders to submit their feedback on this proposal by March 9, 2025.
To check the official notice, stakeholders can visit the CBSE official website: cbse.gov.in.
Stakeholders Invited for Feedback Until March 9
The notice states that all stakeholders have until March 9 to submit their responses to the draft policy. After reviewing the feedback, a final decision will be made regarding conducting board exams twice a year.
As per the National Education Policy (NEP) recommendations, this change aims to give students multiple opportunities to improve their performance. The Education Minister chaired a high-level meeting where this proposal was discussed and approved in principle.
Why is CBSE Considering Biannual Board Exams?
CBSE has explained that the move to conduct exams twice a year aims to reduce the “high-pressure” environment of board exams. Under the proposed system, students will have two chances to appear for their board exams within a single academic year.
- The first exam will be the main board examination
- The second will be an optional improvement exam for those who wish to enhance their scores.
