BHU to Release UG Admission Bulletin Soon: Course Seats Revised and New Programs Introduced
Reduction in Seats for Select BHU UG Courses
Banaras Hindu University (BHU) is set to release its Undergraduate (UG) Admission Bulletin soon, following the publication of the Postgraduate (PG) Admission Bulletin. This year, BHU has revised seat allocations for select UG courses, reducing them in some programs due to low enrollment in previous years. The decision was taken in the first Academic Council meeting of the year, held on January 3. Around 40 courses were reviewed, and based on admission trends, UG courses saw a reduction of 15% to 40% in seat availability.
BHU Announces UG Seat Distribution for 2025 Admissions
Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has finalized the seat distribution for its undergraduate (UG) programs for the upcoming academic session. A total of 8,894 UG seats will be available, including 7,712 regular seats and 1,182 paid seats. The allocation of regular seats includes 3,480 seats at the main BHU campus, 695 seats at Women’s College, and 3,537 seats across affiliated colleges. This structured distribution ensures that students from diverse academic backgrounds have access to quality education at BHU.
In addition to the existing courses, BHU is also introducing over 18 new UG and diploma programs, along with more than 10 UG courses in affiliated colleges. While seat reductions have been implemented in some low-enrollment programs, the addition of new courses may lead to an increase in overall seat availability. The detailed seat matrix, along with eligibility criteria and course structures, will be outlined in the upcoming BHU UG Admission Bulletin, which aspiring candidates should watch for.
BHU to Offer All UG Courses in Four-Year Format
A significant change in BHU's UG education structure is that, starting this year, all undergraduate programs will be offered in a four-year format. This aligns with the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020, ensuring students receive a broader and more flexible curriculum. BHU currently offers over 100 UG programs, including BA (Hons.), BSc, BCom, BTech, and BVoc across 16 faculties.
New Courses to Be Introduced in BHU and Affiliated Colleges
In addition to reducing seats in low-enrollment courses, BHU is set to introduce new UG and diploma programs. The university has approved 18 new UG and diploma courses, with more than ten UG courses being introduced in affiliated colleges. The final list of new courses and seat allocations will be published in the upcoming BHU UG Admission Bulletin.
No Fee Revision at BHU This Year
Students seeking UG admission at BHU can expect stability in fee structures. The university has clarified that there will be no revision in course fees this year, as fee adjustments were already implemented in the previous academic session.
Increase in Regular and Paid Seats at BHU
Currently, BHU offers 8,894 UG seats, which include 7,712 regular seats and 1,182 paid seats. The distribution is as follows:
Main BHU Campus: 3,480 regular seats
Women's College: 695 regular seats
Affiliated Colleges: 3,537 regular seats
With the introduction of new courses in affiliated colleges, there is a possibility of an increase in total seat availability, including paid seats. The detailed structure will be outlined in the BHU UG Admission Bulletin.
BHU to Release Diploma and Certificate Course Bulletin
Alongside the UG admission bulletin, BHU will also issue a separate bulletin for one-year diploma and certificate courses. These programs aim to enhance skill development and provide students with additional learning opportunities.
BHU’s upcoming UG admission bulletin is highly anticipated as it will bring important changes to seat allocations, introduce new programs, and formalize the transition to a four-year UG structure. Aspiring students should stay updated with BHU’s official announcements to get complete details about eligibility, courses, and admission procedures.
