How to Apply for CUET 2025 : Candidates who wish to get admission to the UG courses at Central, State, Private, and Deemed universities across India must appear for CUET UG exam. Students who have secured a minimum of 50% marks in class 12th board exam are eligible to appear for CUET UG exam. Interested candidates must go through the steps to apply for CUET 2025 exam here. NTA is expected to conduct CUET UG 2025 exam between the second week of May to the last week of May 2025.

CUET Eligibility Criteria 2025

Before filling out the application form candidates must go through the eligibility criteria. CUET Eligibility Criteria 2025 is updated below.

Educational Qualifications

  • Candidates must have completed their Class 12 from a recognized board.
  • General Category: A minimum of 50% marks is required in Class 12.
  • SC/ST Candidates: A minimum of 45% marks is needed.

Age Limit

There is no age limit for candidates applying for CUET 2025. Anyone who meets the educational qualifications can apply, regardless of age.

Nationality :  Candidates must be:

  • Indian citizens.
  • Citizens of Nepal or Bhutan.
  • Tibetan refugees who arrived in India before January 1, 1962.
  • People from certain countries (like Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and others) who have permanently moved to India.

Attempts :  Candidates can take the CUET exam multiple times as long as they meet the eligibility criteria.

How to Apply for CUET 2025

Interested candidates who wish to apply for CUET 2025 exam must follow the below steps to fill out the cuet application form.

Step 1: Visit the Official Website :  Candidates should go to the official CUET website at exams.nta.ac.in/CUET-UG. This website has all the information needed for the exam and the application process.

Step 2: Register Online

  • Look for the “Apply Online” button on the homepage.
  • Click on it and choose the program type (undergraduate or postgraduate).
  • Fill in personal details such as: Full name, Email address, Mobile number, Date of birth.
  • After submitting this information, candidates will receive an application number and password via email and SMS. It is important to keep this information safe, as it will be needed later.

Step 3: Log In :  Candidates should use their application number and password to log into the system.

Step 4: Fill Out the Application Form :  Once logged in, candidates need to fill out the application form with their details:

  • Personal Information: Include name, parents’ names, gender, nationality, etc.
  • Educational Qualifications: Provide details about Class 10 and Class 12 education.
  • Examination Centers: Select where they want to take the exam from the list of available centers.

Step 5: Upload Required Documents :  Candidates will need to upload some documents during their application:

  • Photograph: A recent passport-sized photo (between 10 kb and 200 kb, in JPG/JPEG format).
  • Signature: Their signature (between 4 kb and 30 kb, in JPG/JPEG format).
  • Category Certificate (if applicable): If they belong to a specific category (like SC/ST/OBC), upload the certificate (between 50 kb and 300 kb).

Step 6: Choose Universities and Programs : Candidates will be asked to select universities and programs for which they want to apply. They should take their time to choose wisely based on their interests and career goals.

Step 7: Pay the Application Fee : The application fee varies depending on how many subjects candidates choose. They can pay this fee online using:

  • Debit or credit cards
  • Net banking

It is advisable to keep a record of the payment receipt.

Step 8: Submit Your Application : After filling out all sections of the application form, candidates should review everything carefully. They should check for any mistakes or missing information. Once they are sure everything is correct, they can submit their application.

Major Changes in CUET UG 2025

CUET UG 2025 exam will undergo several significant changes as announced by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Here are the major updates:

Shift to Computer-Based Testing (CBT): The exam will be conducted exclusively in a computer-based format, moving away from the hybrid model used previously. This aims to streamline the testing process and minimize logistical issues.

Reduction in Subjects: The number of subjects available for candidates to choose from has been reduced from 63 to 37. This change is intended to simplify the exam structure.

Subject Selection Limit: Candidates can now select a maximum of five subjects instead of six. This adjustment is made to create a more focused assessment environment.

Introduction of New Flexibility: Students will have the option to choose subjects that they did not study in their Class 12 curriculum. This change encourages interdisciplinary studies and greater flexibility in subject selection.

Standardized Exam Duration: All CUET UG exams will now have a uniform duration of 60 minutes, ensuring consistency across different subjects.

Compulsory Question Format: The exam will feature 50 compulsory questions, with no options for candidates to skip or choose between questions.

General Aptitude Test (GAT): Admissions for the subjects that have been dropped will now rely on scores from the General Aptitude Test (GAT).
