Over 8-10 Crore Pilgrims Expected on 29th January
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held a review meeting at his official residence to assess the arrangements for the Mahakumbh. The CM emphasized enhancing facilities as 8-10 crore pilgrims are anticipated to take a holy dip at the Sangam on Mouni Amavasya, 29th January.
Focus on Transportation and Railway Coordination
Acknowledging the large turnout during Paush Purnima and Makar Sankranti—where over 6 crore devotees participated—the CM instructed officials to coordinate with the Railways for the smooth operation of Mahakumbh special trains. He stressed the timely and continuous operation of regular and special trains, suggesting an increase in their frequency to meet demand.
Strengthening Mobile Networks and Transport Facilities
The Chief Minister directed that mobile network connectivity in the mela area be improved for better communication. He also highlighted the importance of uninterrupted operation of buses, shuttle buses, and electric buses to ensure convenient transport for pilgrims.
24x7 Electricity and Water Supply Across Sectors
The CM emphasized the necessity of providing 24x7 electricity and potable water in all sectors of the mela. He ordered the regular cleaning of toilets, proper barricading at ghats, and stringent safety measures for the convenience of the devotees.
High-Level Officials Present at the Meeting
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh, Additional Chief Secretary (CM) SP Goel, DGP Prashant Kumar, Principal Secretary (CM, Home, and Information) Sanjay Prasad, Principal Secretary (Urban Development) Amrit Abhijat, and other senior officials.
