Faculty of Law, University of Allahabad Announces Intra Moot Court Competition for LL.B. (Hons) 1st Semester Students
Event Overview
The Faculty of Law, University of Allahabad, has announced the Intra Moot Court Competition, scheduled to be held in January 2024. The competition is exclusively open to students of the LL.B. (Hons) 1st semester. Students interested in participating are required to register their names by 16th December 2024.
Competition Format
The competition will include two primary stages:
1. Submission of Memorial: Participants must prepare and submit a written memorial.
2. Oral Submissions: Participants will present their oral arguments in a simulated court environment.
Memorial
1. All participants must submit two copies of memorial for the side they are appearing for.
2. Memorial must contain following-
i. Cover page
ii. Index/Table of Content
iii. List of Abbreviations
iv. Index of Authorities
V. Statement of Jurisdiction
vi. Statement of Facts
vii. Statement of Issues
viii. Summary of Arguments
ix. Arguments Advanced
x. Prayer.
3. Memorial for the Petitioner shall have a Blue Cover page and Memorial for the Respondent shall have a Red Cover Page.
4. Uniform font style is to be used throughout the Memorial. Font style should be Times New Roman. Font size of text should be 12. Font size for footnoting should be 10. Line spacing should be 1.5. Memorial must have margin of 1 inch on all side of each page.
5. All pages of memorial except Cover page shall be numbered. The page numbering should be on top right/bottom right side of each page.
6. Code allotted to each participant shall be written on the top right corner of Cover page of memorial.
7. Name of participants must not appear anywhere in the memorial.
8. The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (20th edition) should be followed in Memorial throughout.
9. Memorial must be spiral bound only.
10. The Memorial must not contain any annexure/photographs/sketches/exhibits/affidavit etc.
11. Any sort of plagiarism should be avoided and will be liable for disqualification.
12. Non compliance with above stipulated rules would be penalized accordingly by the Panel of Judges.
13. Memorial shall be evaluated on the basis of following criteria:
Key Rules and Guidelines
Each participant must appear from a single side, either as a Petitioner or Respondent, and submit the memorial for their chosen role.
A unique code will be allotted to each participant, which must be used on their memorial for identification.
Both memorials and oral arguments must be presented in English.
Important Deadlines
Memorial Submission Deadline: 6th January 2025, by 4:00 PM. Submissions made after this deadline will not be accepted.
The date for oral arguments will be announced at a later stage.
Call for Participation
The competition aims to enhance legal research and advocacy skills among students. Participants are encouraged to register promptly and prepare rigorously for the event.
