IGNOU PhD Admission 2024: Application Registration Deadline Extended to November 25, Apply at ignou.ac.in
The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has extended the deadline for PhD programme registrations to November 25, 2024, providing aspiring researchers with additional time to complete their applications. Interested candidates can register via the university’s admission portal at ignouadm.samarth.edu.in.
Eligibility criteria and special provisions
Applicants must hold a valid UGC NET score, either with Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) or from the 2024 UGC NET cycle, in line with the University Grants Commission’s (UGC) 2022 PhD admission regulations. The application fee is Rs 1,000 for all candidates.
IGNOU reserves 5 per cent of its total seats for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) having a disability of 40 per cent or more. These seats are allocated independently of other reservation categories such as General, SC, ST, OBC, or EWS.
Admission process and selection weightage
The admission process for JRF-qualified candidates will be conducted entirely through interviews, which account for 100 per cent of the selection criteria. During the interview, candidates will be assessed on the following parameters:
1.Research methodology expertise: 40 per cent
2. Subject-specific knowledge: 40 per cent
3. Communication skills: 20 per cent
A combined merit list will be prepared for candidates holding valid JRF and UGC NET qualifications, ensuring compliance with the Government of India's reservation policies.
