Inauguration of Legal Aid and Services Clinic at University of Allahabad Faculty of Law

Prayagraj, 16th October 2024 – The Faculty of Law at the University of Allahabad hosted the inauguration ceremony of its Legal Aid and Services Clinic today at 12:00 PM in the New Building of the Law Faculty. The event was graced by Prof. Adesh Kumar, Dean of the Faculty of Law, who welcomed Mr. Dinesh Gautam, Additional District Judge (ADJ) and Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, Prayagraj.

The inauguration ceremony began with Mr. Gautam cutting the ribbon, officially launching the clinic. Dr. Anshuman Mishra delivered the welcome address, followed by a speech from Prof. Adesh Kumar, who highlighted the concept of justice, drawing on the philosophy of Aristotle. Prof. Kumar emphasized that justice cannot be served solely through mechanical processes but requires dedicated units like the clinic to ensure the effective delivery of legal aid to the underprivileged.

Dr. Sonal Shankar further elaborated on the importance of legal aid, describing it as a social duty that forms an integral part of legal education. The keynote speaker, Mr. Dinesh Gautam, delivered a lecture on laws related to the prevention of sexual harassment in the workplace, alongside a detailed discussion on the operations of the District Legal Services Authority and its role in providing legal assistance.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Smita Srivastava. A memento was presented to Mr. Gautam by Prof. Adesh Kumar as a token of appreciation for his contribution to the event.

The ceremony was attended by several esteemed faculty members, including Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, Convenor of the Legal Aid and Services Clinic, Dr. Anurag Deepak Verma, Dr. Vijay Laxmi Singh, Dr. Sandhya Verma, Dr. Mukta Verma, Dr. Ajai Singh, Dr. Naveen Prakash Verma, Dr. Brijesh Kumar Singh, Dr. Rahul Srivastava, Dr. Narender Kumar, Mr. Bheem Singh Meena, and Ms. Shraddha Chaudhari.

 विधि संकाय, इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय में विधिक सहायता और सेवा केन्द्र का उद्घाटन समारोह 16 अक्टूबर 2024 को अपराह्न 12ः00 बजे विधि संकाय के नए भवन में आयोजित किया गया। प्रोफेसर आदेश कुमार डीन, विधि संकाय ने श्री दिनेश गौतम (ए0डी0जे0) सचिव जिला विधिक सेवा प्राधिकरण, प्रयागराज का स्वागत किया। तत्पश्चात श्री दिनेश गौतम (ए0डी0जे0) ने विधि संकाय में विधिक सहायता एवं सेवा क्लिनिक का फीता काटकर उद्घाटन किया। डॉ. अंशुमान मिश्रा ने स्वागत भाषण दिया। उसके बाद प्रोफेसर आदेश कुमार डीन, विधि संकाय ने इस अवसर पर संबोधित किया, उन्होंने यूनानी दार्शनिक अरस्तू पर विशेष जोर देने के साथ न्याय की अवधारणा पर चर्चा की। उन्होंने आगे कहा कि केवल तंत्र द्वारा सभी को कानूनी न्याय प्रदान नहीं किया जा सकता है, बल्कि जरूरतमंद लोगों को सही न्याय प्रदान करना सुनिश्चित करने के लिए एक छोटी इकाई होनी चाहिए। इसके बाद डॉ. सोनल शंकर ने समारोह को संबोधित किया। उन्होंने कहा कि कानूनी सहायता एक सामाजिक कर्तव्य की तरह है। यह कानूनी शिक्षा का एक हिस्सा है। 

श्री दिनेश गौतम (ए0डी0जे0) ने कार्यस्थल पर महिलाओं के यौन उत्पीड़न से संबंधित कानूनों पर व्याख्यान दिया। उन्होंने कानूनी सहायता के विभिन्न पहलुओं पर चर्चा की और जिला विधिक सेवा प्राधिकरण की कार्यप्रणाली पर विस्तार से चर्चा की। डॉ. स्मिता श्रीवास्तव ने धन्यवाद ज्ञापन किया। कार्यक्रम के अंत में विधि संकाय के डीन प्रोफेसर आदेश कुमार द्वारा श्री दिनेश गौतम (ए0डी0जे0) को स्मृति चिन्ह भेंट किया गया।
