UMANG Society Hosts First Model United Nations Conference at University of Allahabad

The Civil Services Society of the University of Allahabad, established in 2022, successfully hosted its first Model United Nations (MUN) Conference on September 6, 2024. With over 100 registrations, 50 students were selected as delegates through a rigorous quiz and orientation process. The conference began with a 30-second meditation followed by a roll call, setting the agenda on "Peace and Conflict Resolution," where geopolitical issues like the Ukraine-Russia war, Israel-Palestine conflict, and South China Sea aggression were debated. This agenda was judged by Dr. Rehnamol P.R., Assistant Professor from the Department of Political Science. A subsequent agenda on "Global South vs. Global North on Sustainable Development" was set by the President of the General Assembly and judged by Dr. Chintala Venkatraman. The event saw active participation, with discussions and voting on both resolutions. 



The ceremony concluded with the presence of dignitaries including Dr. Sanjoy Saksena, Dean, Faculty of Arts, and Dr. Ashish Saxenna, HOD, Department of Sociology. Ten winners were honored with medals and certificates of merit, with top awards going to Mansi, Shambhavi Mishra, Shubhi Pandey, Astha Srivastava, and Kashish Tiwari. All participants received certificates of appreciation, marking the event as a resounding success.
