NLIU Bhopal Announces 6th NLIU-Singhania & Partners National Client Counselling Competition, 2024

The Moot Court Association (MCA) of the National Law Institute University (NLIU), Bhopal, is proud to announce the 6th edition of the NLIU-Singhania & Partners National Client Counselling Competition, 2024. This prestigious event is scheduled to take place from the 18th to 20th October 2024, on the NLIU campus in Bhopal. With each passing year, this competition has grown in prominence, offering a valuable platform for law students to sharpen their client interaction and counseling skills.

About the Competition

The NLIU-Singhania & Partners National Client Counselling Competition has become one of the premier client counseling competitions in India. Organized annually by the Moot Court Association of NLIU, it has earned a reputation for attracting talented participants from law schools across the country. The competition is conducted in partnership with Singhania & Partners LLP, one of India's leading law firms, making this event not only prestigious but also a significant learning opportunity for aspiring legal professionals.

Each year, the competition brings together participants and judges from various legal backgrounds, offering a robust platform for participants to demonstrate their problem-solving and client counseling abilities. In the past, the final rounds of the competition have been judged by distinguished members of the legal community, such as Mr. Vikas Goel (Senior Partner, Singhania & Partners LLP), Mr. Atul Sharma (Managing Partner, Link Legal), Mr. Salman Khurshid (Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India), and Hon'ble Justice (Retd.) Alok Verma (Former Judge, Madhya Pradesh High Court).

The competition is designed to simulate real-world legal counseling scenarios, wherein the participants, acting as lawyers, counsel clients on various legal issues. This format not only allows participants to hone their legal skills but also encourages the development of soft skills such as empathy, communication, and client management, which are essential for a successful legal career.

Format of the Competition

The 2024 edition of the competition will be conducted in a physical mode, with all events taking place on the NLIU campus in Bhopal. A maximum of 20 teams will be selected to participate, based on a first-come, first-served basis. Each team will consist of two members, both of whom will act as counsel during the competition. The registration fee for participating teams is Rs. 10,000.

Participants will be provided with detailed case studies prior to the competition, which they must analyze and use during their counseling sessions. The judging panel will evaluate the teams on several parameters, including their ability to interact with the client, offer sound legal advice, and navigate ethical considerations.
