The National Law School of India University (NLSIU) has announced an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager to join the prestigious Writing Urban India Collective under the HUPA Chair for Urban Poor and the Law. This full-time, year-long position will commence in September 2024, offering a unique chance to contribute to a pioneering academic initiative focused on urban studies and the development of early-career scholars and practitioners.

About the Project

Writing Urban India is a collaborative effort, funded by the Urban Studies Foundation (UK), aimed at building a significant body of resources and knowledge in the field of Indian urban studies. Anchored at NLSIU under the HUPA Chair, the project is designed to mentor PhD scholars and early-career practitioners, helping them transition to publishing their first academic journal articles. The initiative will also create models and knowledge artifacts that could lay the foundation for a larger network of researchers and practitioners, all centered around the distinct urban experiences in India.

The program involves two immersive, five-day residential workshops to be held at the NLSIU campus in Bangalore. These in-person workshops will be supplemented with smaller online sessions and workshops that offer continuous engagement and development for fellows. In addition to the fellowship program, the Writing Urban India Collective will produce thematic research outputs that delve deeply into Indian urban studies.

The ultimate goal is to foster an academic environment that nurtures intellectual growth and practical application, providing credible opportunities for scholars and practitioners to contribute to the evolving discourse around urban India.
