AU administration Orders Re-Examination of PH Certificates Amid Rising Concerns; 68 Students Referred to Hospitals for Verification

The University of Allahabad has launched a re-examination process for PH (Physically Handicapped) certificates after discrepancies were found during the recent Medical Board Examination conducted from September 6 to 9, 2024. The examination, aimed at verifying the percentage of disability for students seeking admission, uncovered irregularities in several certificates, prompting the University to take immediate action.

In response, the University has referred 68 students for re-evaluation of their disability percentages at Swaroop Rani Hospital (SRN) and Manohar Das Netra Chikitsalaya in Prayagraj. Of these, 36 students are from the LLB program, and 14 are from the LLM program. The University has instructed the concerned students to report to the hospitals’ Head of Department offices for their re-assessment.

The decision comes as Allahabad University begins releasing cut-off lists for various undergraduate and postgraduate courses, heightening the urgency to ensure the authenticity of PH certificates submitted by applicants. During the Medical Board Examination, many students raised concerns over discrepancies in the certificates, leading the University administration to scrutinize the submitted documents closely.

In light of these findings, the University administration has moved swiftly to address the issue, with students whose certificates were found doubtful being referred for further verification by medical boards at the designated hospitals.

The University's action highlights its commitment to maintaining transparency and fairness in the admission process, ensuring that only genuinely eligible students receive the benefits accorded to PH candidates.
