Allahabad University: Seats Remain Vacant in Affiliated Colleges Despite High Registration for Allahabad University UG Admissions

In Allahabad University (AU), despite 40,309 candidates registering for 6,860 undergraduate seats, a significant number of seats in the university's affiliated colleges remain vacant. While it was expected that candidates unable to secure admission in the main AU campus would opt for the affiliated colleges, this has not been the case.

As per reports, AU has 11 affiliate colleges with a total of 21,534 seats. Classes for the first-year undergraduate courses are set to commence on September 30, marking the end of the admission process. 

However, many seats remain unfilled, with 30% to 50% of the Bachelor of Arts (BA) seats and 20% to 30% of the Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) seats still vacant. Even the Bachelor of Science (BSc) seats have not been fully occupied.

The delay in the announcement of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) results is cited as one of the major reasons for the delay in the admission process. This resulted in many candidates opting for admissions in other state universities or colleges, leaving AU’s affiliated colleges with a large number of vacant seats. Despite the university’s efforts to call both CUET and non-CUET candidates for admission, filling all the available seats remains a challenge.

Experts believe that the delayed admission process has significantly contributed to this situation, as students preferred to secure their positions in other institutions rather than wait for the AU admission process to conclude. This has created a tough situation for the affiliated colleges, as they are struggling to fill the seats even as the academic year is about to commence.

 

इलाहाबाद विवि में दाखिला न मिलने पर छात्रों ने कॉलेजों से मुंह मोड़ा, UG में 40309 ने कराया था रजिस्ट्रेश

इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय (इविवि) में स्नातक की 6860 सीटों पर दाखिले के लिए छह गुना अधिक अभ्यर्थियों ने रजिस्ट्रेशन कराए थे। माना जा रहा था कि जिन्हें इविवि परिसर में प्रवेश नहीं मिलेगा, वे कॉलेजों में दाखिला लेंगे लेकिन ऐसा नहीं हुआ। इविवि में रजिस्ट्रेशन कराने वाले अभ्यर्थी संघटक कॉलेजों में एडमिशन के लिए पहुंचे ही नहीं और कॉलेजों में काफी संख्या में सीटें खाली हैं। विश्वविद्यालय के 11 संघटक महाविद्यालयों में 21534 सीटें हैं।

इविवि और कॉलेजों में 30 सितंबर से स्नातक प्रथम वर्ष की कक्षाएं शुरू होने जा रही हैं और प्रवेश प्रक्रिया बंद होने वाली है। इसके बावजूद कॉलेजों में बीए की 30 से 50 फीसदी तक सीटें खाली हैं। बीकॉम में भी 20 से 30 फीसदी तक सीटें रिक्त हैं, जबकि बीएससी की सीटें भी अब तक पूरी तरह से नहीं भरी हैं।

प्रवेश प्रक्रिया शुरू होने से पहले इविवि में दाखिले के लिए 40309 अभ्यर्थियों ने रजिस्ट्रेशन कराए थे। इनकी प्राथमिकता विवि परिसर में दाखिला लेने की थी। अगर विश्वविद्यालय में स्नातक की सभी सीटें भर जाती हैं तो भी 33449 अभ्यर्थी दाखिले से वंचित रह जाएंगे। अगर इनमें से 21534 अभ्यर्थियों ने भी संघटक महाविद्यालयों में दाखिला लिया होता तो कॉलेजों में सभी सीटें भर जातीं।

जानकारों का मानना है कि सीयूईटी का परिणाम देर से आने के कारण प्रवेश प्रक्रिया में विलंब से शुरू हुई और इसी वजह से बड़ी संख्या में अभ्यर्थियों ने राज्य विवि या दूसरे विश्वविद्यालयों एवं कॉलेजों में प्रवेश ले लिए। नतीजा कि विवि के संघटक महाविद्यालयों के सामने सीटें भरने की चुनौती खड़ी हो गई है और कॉलेजों को प्रवेश के लिए अभ्यर्थी ही नहीं मिल रहे हैं, जबकि सीयूईटी में शामिल और गैर सीयूईटी सभी अभ्यर्थियों को एडमिशन के लिए बुलाया गया है।
