Large Number of Seats Remain Vacant Despite Open Admissions at Constituent Colleges of Allahabad University

Despite the opening of the non-CUET (Common University Entrance Test) admission window at most constituent colleges of Allahabad University, nearly 50% of undergraduate seats remain vacant. This includes around 50% of seats in BA programs and 30% in BCom courses. Admissions in BSc programs are also yet to be completed, raising concerns that a significant number of seats will remain unfilled.

According to the university's academic calendar for the 2024-25 session, undergraduate classes are set to commence by September 30. With only five days left, it seems unlikely that all vacant seats will be filled before the start of the academic session.

The situation is particularly concerning, as prominent colleges such as Allahabad Degree College, Ishwar Sharan, S.S. Khanna, Jagat Taran, Arya Kanya, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Fafamau, and Rajarshi Tandon Girls Degree College had opened admission windows for both CUET and non-CUET candidates.

Last year, the undergraduate classes for first-year students began as early as September 10, making this year's delay more noticeable. According to the university's PRO, Prof. Jaya Kapoor, classes are still scheduled to begin on September 30. However, with a large number of vacant seats, there is growing concern that many courses may not reach full capacity before the academic year begins.

सीधे दाखिले की खिड़की खोलने पर भी सीटें खाली

 इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय के अधिकांश संघटक कॉलेजों में सीधे दाखिले (नॉन-सीयूईटी) की खिड़की खोलने के बावजूद 50 प्रतिशत की सीटें खाली हैं। कॉलेजों में बीए की 50 फीसदी तक तो वहीं बीकॉम की 30 प्रतिशत फीसदी तक सीटें खाली हैं। बीएससी में भी प्रवेश प्रक्रिया पूरी नहीं हो सकी है जबकि विश्वविद्यालय के शैक्षणिक कैलेंडर 2024-25 के अनुसार स्नातक की कक्षाएं 30 सितंबर तक शुरू होनी है। ऐसे में पांच दिन में सभी सीटें भरना मुमकिन दिखाई नहीं पड़ रहा। बड़ी संख्या में स्नातक की सीटें खाली रहने की आशंका है। यह स्थिति तब है जबकि इलाहाबाद डिग्री कॉलेज, ईश्वर शरण, एसएस खन्ना, जगत तारन, आर्य कन्या, श्यामा प्रसाद मुखर्जी फाफामऊ और राजर्षि टंडन गर्ल्स डिग्री कॉलेज ने सीयूईटी में शामिल और नॉन-सीयूईटी सभी अभ्यर्थियों के लिए प्रवेश की खिड़की खोल दी है। पीआरओ प्रो. जया कपूर के अनुसार कक्षाएं 30 सितंबर से शुरू होगी। गौरतलब है कि पिछले साल 10 सितंबर से स्नातक प्रथम वर्ष की कक्षाएं शुरू हो गईं थीं।
