About the Moot Court Competition

The Moot Court Committee, Faculty of Law, Mangalayatan University Jabalpur is organizing its 1st Justice S.L. Kochar National Moot Court Competition to develop a deeper understanding of legal principles, case laws, and courtroom procedures.

The Moot Proposition of the Competition primarily deals with the application and interpretation of the Constitution of India, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023, Indian Penal Code, 1860 and other relevant laws.

 

Eligibility

All students duly enrolled and pursuing a full-time 3-year LL.B. program or a 5-year integrated LL.B. or LL.M. program from the Institution/University recognized by the Bar Council of India or equally competent authority shall be eligible to participate in the competition.

A maximum of 2 teams from an institute can register for participation.

In case of any ambiguity, the Organizers reserve the right to decide thereto, which shall be final and binding.

Each team shall constitute a minimum of 2 members and a maximum of 3 members. Under no condition shall a team consisting of more than 3 members be allowed to participate.

Each team shall comprise a maximum number of three members (two speakers and one researcher) or a minimum number of two members (one speaker and one speaker-cum-researcher).

 

Registration Details

Interested teams are required to register for the Competition by completing the Registration Form. Registration shall not be accepted through any means other than the Registration Form.

The participants are requested to fill out the registration form provided in the link below and attach the scanned copies of Annexure A and Annexure B along with the payment screenshot in the form.

The teams must also mention the email ID of either the respective committee or the head/dean of their institution in the Registration Form.

The deadline for registration is 30th October 2024 (11:59 P.M. IST).

Payment of INR 2,500/- (without accommodation) and INR 5,000/- (with accommodation) per team is required to be paid at the time of registration through the UPI ID/ QR Code/ Bank Transfer provided in the registration form as well as in the brochure.

 

Each team must designate a contact person for official communication with the organizers. Registration fees are non-refundable, even in the case of withdrawal. Incomplete forms or email registrations will not be considered valid, and the organizers’ decisions on such matters are final. All communications and submissions must strictly follow the guidelines outlined by the organizers.

Prizes

The following awards shall be awarded in the Competition:

 

Winner: Rs. 31,000 with Winner Trophy + Certificate Course on Trademark Law + Internship Opportunity by Legal Librarium.

Runner-Up: Rs. 16,000 with Runner-Up Trophy

Best Memorial: Rs. 5000 with Trophy

Best Mooter: Rs. 5000 with Trophy

Best Researcher: Rs. 3000 with Trophy

Internship Opportunity to all Prize Holders by Amikus Qriae.

23 September 2024 – Release of Moot problem, Commencement of Registration

30 October 2024 – Last date of registration

01 November 2024 – Last date of seeking clarification

07 November 2024 – Last date of memorial submission (softcopy)

14 November 2024 – Draw of lots (Virtual Meet)

16 November 2024 – Preliminary Round 1 and 2 & Submission of memorial (hardcopy)

17 November 2024 – Quarter & Final Round
