"Women Concerned Only for Their Safety," Says Law Student
Unnati Mishra, a final-year LLB student from the university, questioned the effectiveness of India's legal system. "The Indian Penal Code has been replaced by the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, but do we have laws that ensure swift and severe punishment for such heinous crimes? It took seven years to deliver justice in the Nirbhaya case. While discussions around 33% women’s reservation are ongoing in Parliament, in a country like this, how will daughters receive justice if they are forced to worry solely about their safety?" she remarked.
