ABVP Submits Memorandum to Address Teacher Recruitment Irregularities and Student Demands

Efforts to Appoint Close Associates of AU Vice Chancellor and Former Prof. Manmohan Krishna Condemnable: Alok Tripathi

ABVP Demands Rollback of 10% Annual Hostel Fee Increase

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Allahabad University unit today submitted a memorandum calling for fairness and transparency in the university’s teacher recruitment process. The ABVP workers gheraoed the Dean of Student Welfare's office and the FRC office, protesting against the decision to increase hostel fees by 10% annually and highlighting concerns over favoritism in teacher recruitment.

In the memorandum, the ABVP criticized the involvement of the Vice Chancellor and retired Professor Manmohan Krishna in allegedly helping their close associates secure positions within the university. The ABVP deemed this influence as highly condemnable and demanded an immediate end to such practices.

ABVP’s memorandum included three main demands: reversing the decision to increase hostel fees by 10% annually, ensuring scholarships for students securing more than 60% marks, and addressing corruption in the allocation of the Poor Student Fund. They also expressed concern over the university’s handling of the interview process for the Vice Chancellor's close associate, current registrar of Rajju Bhaiya University Avinash Kumar Srivastava, and an associate of retired professor Manmohan Krishna and assistant professor at Shyama Prasad Mukherjee College.

Alok Tripathi, President of the ABVP Allahabad University Unit, stated, "It is highly unfortunate that the Vice Chancellor and retired Professor Manmohan Krishna have influenced the teacher recruitment process to favor their associates. One of the selected teachers was previously an Assistant Professor at Ramjas College, Delhi University, and was selected under the EWS quota. Additionally, two candidates were selected without attending the interview. This clearly indicates corruption in the recruitment process."

Ayushman Chauhan, Secretary of the ABVP Allahabad University Unit, added, "The ABVP strongly opposes the Executive Council's decision to increase hostel fees by 10% annually and the mismanagement of the Poor Boys' Fund. We demand that the university administration address these issues within 48 hours and take immediate corrective action, failing which the ABVP will be compelled to launch a vigorous agitation."
