The University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) June 2024 re-exam is scheduled to take place from August 21 to September 4. In a significant shift, the NTA has opted to conduct the UGC NET re-examination in a computer-based test (CBT) format, moving away from the pen-and-paper mode used for the first time in the June edition of the exam.
The UGC NET was cancelled on June 18, just a day after it was held. The cancellation came amidst concerns that the "integrity of the examination might have been compromised."
The UGC NET June 2024 was conducted across 1205 exam centres in 317 cities nationwide, accommodating a total of 11,21,225 candidates. Among them, 6,35,587 were females, 4,85,579 were males, and 59 identified as third gender. By comparison, the UGC NET Exam in December 2023 had 9,45,872 registered candidates.

HOW TO DOWNLOAD ADMIT CARDS OF UGC NET 2024 RE-EXAM
To download the admit card for the UGC NET 2024 re-examination, you can follow these steps:
1. Visit the Official Website: Go to the official website of the National Testing Agency (NTA) or the dedicated UGC NET exam portal.
2. Navigate to Admit Card Section: Look for the 'Download Admit Card' or 'Admit Card' link on the homepage or in the notifications section.
3. Login: Click on the link provided for downloading the admit card. You will typically be required to log in using your application number, date of birth, and other required details.
4. Download Admit Card: After logging in successfully, your admit card will be displayed on the screen.
5. Print Admit Card: Review all the details mentioned on the admit card carefully. If everything is correct, download the admit card and take a printout. Make sure to carry this printout to the examination centre along with a valid photo ID on the day of the exam.
In addition to announcing the dates for the UGC NET re-examination, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has also unveiled the schedule for other significant exams.
The CSIR-UGC joint NET examination is slated for July 25 to 27, while the NCET examination will occur on July 10.
Why was the UGC-NET 2024 exam cancelled?
The UGC-NET June 2024 Examination was cancelled on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, after the University Grants Commission (UGC) received information from the National Cyber Crime Threat Analytics Unit (I4C) of the Ministry of Home Affairs suggesting that the integrity of this NTA exam might have been compromised. To maintain transparency and the sanctity of the examination process, the Ministry of Education has decided to cancel the UGC NET 2024 June session. A new examination will be organised, the details of which will be announced in due course.
Candidates were allowed to carry back their admit cards, countering NTA’s written instructions

After the examination is over, the candidates shall hand over the OMR Answer Sheet to the invigilator. The candidate can take away the Question Booklet after the examination is over. If, the candidate does not hand over OMR Answer Sheet to the Invigilator and goes away with any of the above documents (both the OMR Answer Sheets and Original Admit Card), his/her candidature shall be cancelled and criminal proceedings shall also be initiated against him/her.”
