LexTech is a dynamic centre dedicated to exploring the intersections of law, technology, and entrepreneurship. The Centre focuses on burgeoning fields such as FinTech, Artificial Intelligence, Telecommunication, Media, and Technology (TMT), online gaming and betting laws, and data privacy. Through its monthly newsletter, "Tech Tales: From Code to Courtroom," LexTech provides a platform for legal-tech industry experts to share their real-life experiences and insights into the legal world. Additionally, the Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy, an independent think-tank established in 2013, serves as the publication partner. The LexTech Article Writing Competition offers legal enthusiasts an opportunity to engage deeply with complex legal issues related to technology. Participants are encouraged to explore a variety of sub-themes, including:


1. Navigating the Digital Frontier: Legal Challenges and Solutions in Cross-Border Data Transfers.

2. Decoding Deceptive Design: Evaluating the Impact of India's Dark Patterns Guidelines.

3. Legal Implications of Deepfakes and AI-generated Content.

4. RBI's Vision for Digital Lending: A Critical Examination of Guidelines and Challenges in the Indian Context.

5. Skill vs Chance: An Analysis of the Introduction of 28% GST on Online Gaming in India.

6. Creator or Creation: The Legal Conundrum of Ownership and Authorship in AI-Generated Content.


These themes highlight the competition’s focus on contemporary and pressing issues within the realm of legal technology. However, submissions are not restricted to these sub-themes as long as they align with the overarching theme of emerging areas in legal-tech and innovation.


Eligibility and Guidelines


The competition is open to all undergraduate and postgraduate students enrolled in any discipline at a recognized law university, college, or institute. Co-authorship is permitted, allowing for collaborative efforts across different institutions. Each submission must be original, unpublished, and analytical, adhering to a word limit of 2000-2500 words. The articles should be written in English, using the specified Lato font, and must not include footnotes, with all sources hyperlinked instead.


Participants are required to maintain the anonymity of their submissions, ensuring that the manuscript does not contain any identifying information about the author(s). The use of AI tools for article writing is strictly prohibited to maintain the integrity and originality of the work.


Prizes and Recognition


Winners of the competition will be awarded prestigious prizes, including internships at Nishith Desai Associates and the Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy, along with cash prizes. The top articles will also be published with Vidhi, providing participants with a valuable platform to showcase their work.
