DNLU and Seven Seas Partners LLP Announce 1st Space Law Blog Writing Competition



The Dharmashastra National Law University (DNLU) has unveiled the inaugural edition of the DNLU SLJ Space Law Blog Writing Competition, a collaborative effort with Seven Seas Partners LLP. The competition also boasts the Centre for Research in Air and Space Laws, MNLU Mumbai, as its Knowledge and Supporting Partner. This event marks a significant milestone in fostering academic discourse and research in the niche yet burgeoning field of space law within the Indian context.


 Theme and Sub-Themes

The theme for this premier edition is "Space Law and its Development in the Indian Scenario." Participants are invited to explore a variety of sub-themes, including but not limited to:


1. Analyzing the Role of Recently Released IN-SPACE Guidelines: Delve into the newly introduced IN-SPACE guidelines and their implications for India's space sector.


2. The Growing Intersection of Insolvency Laws and Space Laws in the Indian Market: Examine how insolvency laws intersect with space law, particularly within the Indian market.

3. Artemis Accords and India: Assess India's position and potential involvement in the Artemis Accords.


4. Space Debris Management by Indian Companies: Investigate how Indian companies are managing space debris and the regulatory framework surrounding it.


5. Privacy Concerns in the Indian Space Sector: Explore privacy issues arising in India's space activities and potential regulatory responses.

6. Liability and Insurance Claims in the Indian Space Sector: Analyze the liability and insurance landscape for space activities in India.


These sub-themes are suggestive, encouraging participants to conduct holistic research and submit papers on any relevant topic related to the development of space law in India. All submissions will undergo a rigorous review process by the Editorial Board to ensure high standards of scholarship.


Eligibility and Registration

The competition is open to students enrolled in undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD programs at various universities and colleges. Interested participants are required to pay a registration fee of INR 200 for single authorship and INR 300 for co-authorship (up to two authors).

- Registrations Open: July 23, 2024

- Closure of Submissions and Registration Fee Payment: August 25, 2024

- Declaration of Results: September 15, 2024
