Allahabad University: SS Khanna College to Offer LLM Program
Prayagraj: In a significant development for students aspiring to pursue postgraduate studies in law, Allahabad University’s affiliated SS Khanna Girls' Degree College is set to introduce an LLM program in the academic session 2025-26. The college administration has prepared a proposal for this postgraduate course, which has received the green light from the college’s management. The proposal will now be sent to the university administration for final approval.
Established in 1975, SS Khanna Girls' Degree College currently offers courses in five streams: Arts, Science, Commerce, Law, and Education. The college boasts a student strength of 3,900 and a faculty of 96 members engaged in academic activities.
About Faculty
Saroj Lalji Mehrotra Centre of Legal Studies at the College has been granted approval by the Bar Council of India, New Delhi and affiliation from the University of Allahabad to begin with the course from Academic Session 2019-20. An intake of 75 girls’ students has been permitted for the course. Anew relay of thanks to the Sar-La Educational Trust, Mumbai for extending their generosity and making a fiscal grant for facilitating the College to establish B.A. LL.B. (Hons.). The College is privileged and extends deepest gratitude to the Trust for being associated in making such big positive impacts.
Prestigious National Academic Excellence Award
The college has recently been honored with the prestigious Damodarshree National Academic Excellence Award. This recognition is awarded annually to institutions excelling in academic and extracurricular activities. Students from across the country participated in the award competition, which included debate and essay writing contests. SS Khanna College's students excelled, winning awards in various categories, including a cash prize of 50,000 INR and certificates.

New Courses and Employability
The college is set to introduce several new courses aimed at enhancing employability. According to Prof. Lalima Singh, Principal of SS Khanna Girls' Degree College, new diploma programs in Family and Community Sciences, Defense Studies, and Journalism will commence alongside the LLM program. The introduction of these courses is expected to significantly boost students' employability.
In addition, the college currently offers BA (119 seats), BSc (75 seats), BCom (188 seats), BEd (125 seats), and LLB programs. The college's expansion into new disciplines is seen as a major step towards providing holistic education and enhancing career opportunities for students.
