Change in Admission Rules Overnight Sparks Protests; Allahabad University Students Submit Memorandum on IPS Discrepancies

Students of the University of Allahabad have raised serious concerns over discrepancies in the entrance examination results, particularly for the M.Voc course. They have alleged that university officials manipulated the rules to favor certain candidates. This controversy came to light when senior student leader Abhishek Dwivedi claimed on the social media platform X that the entrance examination results for the M.Voc course were compromised.

Today, several students of Allahabad University went to Pravesh Bhawan to submit a memorandum against the observed discrepancies in the evaluation of entrance examination marks. The students requested senior officials to call the Admissions Director to receive the memorandum and lodge a complaint. When the Admissions Director did not appear, the students began to protest at the entrance gate of Pravesh Bhawan.

After half an hour, the Admissions Director, Prof. Jayant Kumar Pati, arrived to receive the memorandum. The students criticized the University of Allahabad for allegedly changing the rules overnightly to favor a topper.

Students alleged that last night the University of Allahabad changed its brochure, and the new version did not include the provision for the deduction of marks due to a gap year.

Dwivedi highlighted that the topper of the M.Voc course completed his undergraduate degree in 2020. According to university rules, a 15% deduction in marks should apply if there is a gap of more than three years between the completion of an undergraduate degree and the entrance examination. However, the scorecard presented by the topper showed no such deduction.

Updated Brochure which doesn't has the provision of year's gap deduction.

Previously, in defense, the topper produced a paper cutting indicating that for the IPS courses, no marks would be deducted. Abhishek Dwivedi refuted this by stating that the paper cutting was from 2022 and mentioned Prashant Ghosh as the Admissions Director. He clarified that for the current session, Prof. Jayant Kumar Pati is the Admissions Director.

Further claims emerged from students suggesting that while the university declared the results correctly, discrepancies arose because some students did not provide accurate data regarding their undergraduate passing year.

Despite the controversy, the University of Allahabad has officially announced the Post Graduation Admission Test - II results and has previously released the results for various courses, including LL.B., LL.M., M.Com, M.Voc. in Media Studies, M.Sc. in Food Technology, and Master in Computer Application (MCA).
