ABVP Urges UGC to Reopen Online Application Portal for UGC-NET (June 2024)

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has officially requested the Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC) to reopen the online application portal for the UGC-NET (June 2024) exam. This request comes in light of the rescheduling of the exam, originally held on June 18 but canceled due to concerns of a potential paper leak. The rescheduled dates for the UGC-NET are set between August 21 and September 4, 2024.

In their memorandum, ABVP highlighted that many students were unaware that PhD admissions in various universities would hinge on their UGC-NET scores, thus necessitating the reopening of the application portal. The organization stressed that several students missed the initial application window due to various reasons.

ABVP's National General Secretary Yagywalkya Shukla

ABVP National General Secretary, Shri Yagywalkya Shukla, emphasized the importance of reopening the portal, stating, "Reopening the online application portal will provide an opportunity to the students who were left out and couldn't apply before. The UGC-NET examination should be held as scheduled, and the results should be announced in mission mode so that the admission procedure for PhD programs in various universities takes place as scheduled."

The reopening of the portal, according to ABVP, would ensure that all eligible students have a fair chance to apply and participate in the upcoming UGC-NET, facilitating a smooth and timely PhD admission process.
