Direct Admissions in LLB at NLU Lucknow without CLAT; Check the details

The National Law University will no longer require passing the Common Admission Law Test (CLAT) for admission. Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia National Law University, located in the capital of Uttar Pradesh, will offer a 3-year LLB course starting next session. The university administration has completed the necessary preparations for this new course and will conduct the admission process independently.

Professor Amarpal Singh, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, announced that while the university has been offering a 5-year LLB course, it will now also introduce a 3-year LLB course under the new system. The proposal for this course has been approved by the university's governing body and has been sent to the Bar Council of India and the Uttar Pradesh government for recognition. All necessary preparations at the university level have been completed, and the proposal and departmental processes are underway. The fee structure has been established, and the admission process will be determined based on seat allocation.

Vice-Chancellor Amarpal Singh highlighted that there are around 22 National Law Universities in the country, and Dr. Lohia Law University stands out with its significant position. With over 1,000 students enrolled in the 5-year LLB, LLM, and PhD programs, the university boasts a faculty of 26 teachers, a number higher than many other law universities in the country.

Amarpal Singh also noted that while all prestigious law universities in the country admit students to the 5-year LLB course through the national-level CLAT exam, Dr. Lohia University will be the first in Uttar Pradesh and North India to offer a 3-year LLB program. This new program provides an excellent opportunity for students who aspire to study at a prestigious law university but are unable to pass the competitive CLAT exam. The university plans to obtain BCI recognition for 60 seats in the first year of the 3-year LLB program. The admission process for these seats will be conducted by the university, giving a chance to those who have not qualified for CLAT but wish to pursue legal studies.
