Allahabad University Admission: BCI's LLB Seat Cut to Increase Competition

The application process for admission to other courses including PG in Allahabad University and constituent colleges has been completed. Entrance examinations are proposed from July 1. This time the seats of LLB have decreased. Now admission will be done on 300-300 (900) seats in University of Allahabad, CMP College, ADC. 11472 candidates have applied in LLB. That is, 13 candidates are claiming one seat. It is known that in the year 2020, quota was implemented for economically weaker (EWS) candidates in all the courses being run in Allahabad University and affiliated colleges. Admissions were taken by increasing ten percent seats in all the courses. Before the implementation of quota, admissions were being taken against three hundred seats.

Competition Intense at Allahabad University with 13 Applicants Vying for Single LLB Seat

After the implementation of EWS quota, admissions started being made on 375-375 seats instead of 300- 300 in Allahabad University, CMP, ADC. The Bar Council of India (BCI) directed that seats should not be increased in LLB. All quotas should be implemented only in the fixed seats. This time admissions will be made in Allahabad University and colleges for 300 seats. All quotas will be within these 300 seats.

In a significant decision, the Bar Council of India (BCI) has announced a 20% reduction in the number of admissions for the LLB course at Allahabad University and its affiliated colleges. This decision cuts the total intake from 1125 to 900 seats, impacting many aspiring law students.

Previously, the Main Campus of Allahabad University, along with its constituent colleges - Allahabad Degree College (ADC) and Chaudhary Mahadeo Prasad (CMP) College - each had an intake capacity of 375 students for the LLB program. This year, the intake at each institution has been reduced from 375 to 300 students.

11,472 students to appear for LLB Entrance Examination

Adding to the gravity of the situation, 11,472 students have registered to participate in the LLB entrance examination for the University of Allahabad this year. This drastic reduction in seats is a major blow to these candidates appearing in the Post Graduation Admission Test (PGAT) for pursuing LLB, significantly lowering their chances of securing admission.
