About the Competition

This edition of the National Moot Court Competition at the School of Law, NorthCap University, features the Republic of Tokugawa, which has been classified as a developing country by various international organizations. The current government intends to accelerate infrastructure growth, and the various state governments are also promoting it.

Taking the same vision ahead, the State of Pawainam invited a building company to develop an IT Park on the outskirts of the city, which will feature a residential complex, a shopping mall, a school and a playground. One concern of a tribe residing in the vicinity of the proposed IT Park is with respect to the access to a lake which they consider to be sacred.

The problem features issues pertaining to the Environment Impact Assessment, Rights of Tribal populations, concerns regarding compensation, wetlands management along with the violation of the fundamental rights of the citizens.

Eligibility

Students pursuing their full-time 3-year LLB or 5-year LLB program (1 team per program per institute) from a university or Institute recognized by the Bar Council of India are eligible to apply.

Winning Team Award: Cash Prize of Rs. 15,000/- Along with Winner’s Trophy.

Runners-up Team Award: Cash Prize of Rs. 10,000/- Along with Runner’s-Up Trophy.

Best Mooter Male: Cash Prize of Rs. 5,000/- Along with Memento.

Best Mooter Female: Cash Prize of Rs. 5,000/- Along with Memento.

Best Memorial: Cash Prize of Rs. 5,000/- Along with Memento.
