About 13.50 lakh applications have been received for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET- UG) in 2024. Corrections can be made in the online application form till 11.50 pm on Monday night. National Testing Agency (NTA) has given the option of correction window to the students. This time the exam is also being conducted offline i.e. in pen-paper mode. For this, NTA is considering several formulas.
How many subjects will there be?
Sources say that there will be offline examination for at least 10 subjects and currently the assessment is going on based on the applications. Subjects with more than one lakh applications are being reviewed. The number of subjects in offline exam can also be from 12 to 14. In the next few days, after analyzing the applications, NTA will decide which subjects will come under the purview of offline exam in 2024 and which subjects will be in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode like the last two years.
Will exams be held in schools and colleges also?
When CUET was implemented in 2022, only computer based test was conducted for two years, for which centers with computer labs are required. But after two years of experience, it was decided to conduct hybrid exam in 2024. The way medical exams are conducted in schools and colleges. Similarly, schools and colleges will also be approached for CUET exam.
When will the exams start?
NTA sources say that the exams will start from May 15 and the window has been fixed till May 31. During this period, voting for Lok Sabha elections will also take place on 20th and 25th May. In such a situation, more schools and colleges will have to be approached to create more and more centres. NTA sources say that in view of the heat of May, all necessary arrangements will have to be made at the exam centres. Complete planning is being done keeping in mind that students should get centers near their homes.
How many applications came?
There have been more applications for the medical and engineering exams conducted by NTA compared to last year. More than three lakh applications have been received for the medical exam. CUET is the first exam of NTA in 2024, in which less applications have been received compared to last year. Last year there were applications from 14.9 lakh students and this time there are 13.50 lakh applications. NTA will release application figures in the next few days.
Will students get relief?
This time, students will get relief due to the availability of papers for subjects with more applications in schools and colleges. NTA will also use AI tools to prevent any irregularities or cheating in the exam. There will be strict monitoring through CCTV and NTA command control room. Experts advise to check the online form once so that there is no scope for any mistake.
